Behavioral study of obedience
Abstract
Obedience refers to complying with the demands of others, more so those who are in the position of authority. Stanley Milgram Yale University psychologist conducted series of the research experiment on the effect of power on obedience.Milgram sampled subjects from a diverse range of occupation and education level. Besides, the participant illustrated their willingness to obey a given authority.Furthermore, the ability of the participant to perform deeds against their personal conscience was considered essential.Milgram experiment concluded that subjects follow orders, albeit unwillingly, either out of fear or failure to willingly cooperate. Besides, the participants didn’t follow their better judgment and desires.
